The Medicare Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) is intended to give health care teams the opportunity to evaluate their patients’ overall health and well-being. The primary purpose is prevention—to develop or update a personalized plan to keep patients healthy in the year ahead.
Different from a traditional physical exam, AWV services are expanded and include things like lifestyle counseling, screening for emotional and cognitive well-being, and other factors that may affect a patient’s health.
